3.1 Love Locks Railing at Rocky Point Pier

Linda Balzer provided a presentation which explained how Love Locks serve as community memory and tourist attraction in other communities and requested that Council authorize staff to work with the delegation and install a short rail at the pier where residents and visitors may attach padlocks engraved with mementos along with a discrete interpretation sign.

THAT the report of the Chief Election Officer, dated May 2, 2011, regarding Bylaw No. 2878 – Fire Hall #1 Construction Project Loan Authorization Bylaw referendum results, be received.
 
6.1 CP Rail Spur Line - Request to Limit Train Times

THAT the Mayor be authorized to make one further appeal to CP Rail management to resume former train schedule on the Ioco Spur.
 
6.2 Golden Spike Days Society – Loan Update

THAT the Golden Spike Days Society loan from the City be forgiven.
Voting against: Councillors Clay, Dilworth, Elliott, Lahti, Nuttall and Mayor Trasolini.

THAT the Golden Spike Days Society be asked to report back to Council after the completion of their financial year end in October, 2011 with updated financial reporting and discussion around a repayment schedule.

Staff were directed to communicate to the Golden Spike Days Society that Council anticipates that the loan will be repaid.

THAT the resolutions of the Committee of the Whole meeting of May 10, 2011 be endorsed as above

7.2 Recommendations of Finance Committee

THAT the resolutions of the Finance Committee meeting of May 3, 2011 be approved as follows:

2010 Financial Statements And Audit - THAT the 2010 Financial Statements be approved.

7.3 Report and Recommendation from the Fire Hall #1 Replacement Task Force

Councillor Rockwell, Task Force chair provided a verbal report of the May 9, 2011 meeting of the Fire Hall #1 Replacement Task Force, advising Council of the following recommendation of the Task Force:

"THAT a motion to reconsider Borrowing Bylaw No. 2878 once the Fire Hall #1 Replacement Task Force report is submitted on June 28, 2011 be brought forward at the regular Council Meeting to be held on May 10, 2011."

THAT the verbal report of the chair of the Fire Hall #1 Replacement Task Force be received.
Moved, seconded and CARRIED
THAT the decision of the April 26, 2011 Regular Council meeting on the adoption of "City of Port Moody Fire Hall #1 Construction Project Loan Authorization Bylaw, 2010, No. 2878" be reconsidered;
and
THAT consideration of adoption of the bylaw be deferred until after Council receives the Fire Hall #1 Replacement Task Force report on June 28, 2011.
