1.1 Introduction of Art at Council
Verbal Report: Mayor Clay / File: 18-7705-01

Mayor Clay introduced the various public art works that have been installed as part of the Evergreen Line Extension, including the following:

Evergreen Public Art Panel Project - mural designed by David Pacholko;
Aboriginal Canoe - restored by students from Suwa'lkh Secondary;
Historical Photo - first scheduled passenger train arriving in Port Moody;
Coming and Going - pavement decal designed by Soren Henrich;
Moraine Train - installation by the Hapa Collaborative;
Evergreen People - stainless steel sculpture by Alberto Cerritos, Rosaline Cerritos, and Jaime Torres; and
Mother and Child on a Bike - sculpture by Parvaneh Roudgar.

Mayor Clay invited Ms. Roudgar to speak about her artwork.
Ms. Roudgar spoke about the inspiration behind the sculpture, Mother and Child on a Bike, and thanked her family, Council, City staff, the fabricators, and the Evergreen Line for the honour of working with them on this piece of public art.
Mayor Clay introduced the members of the Evergreen Line Public Art Liaison Committee—former City Councillor Gerry Nuttall, Helen Daniels, Susan lus, Judy Stanley, and Stirling Ward—and thanked them for their significant contributions to public art in Port Moody over the life of the project.

Mayor Clay then introduced the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project Team—David Chang, Associate Project Director;
Jody Deane, Senior Project Manager;
Amanda Farrell, Executive Project Director;
and Wendy Itagawa, Senior Project Manager—
and thanked them for their work throughout the project.

1.2 2016 Year End Highlights

Mayor Clay presented a video of highlights from 2016, including:
loco Ghost Town Days, Zoning Bylaw Review, Designated Anchorage Area, Recreation Complex Playground Upgrade, Sports Display Awards, Winter Farmers Market, Fingerling Festival, Public Works Day, Oktoberfest, Summer Celebration, CP Holiday Trains, RibFest, Search for the Perfect Pint, Public Safety Fair, Bear Aware, Greenscaping Educational Series, Port Moody Art Association Show and Sale, Home Safety Program, Blood Donation Clinic, Firefighters' Pancake Breakfast, Coronation Park Neighbourhood Planning, Fire Hall and Works Yard Redevelopment, Golden Spike Days, Food Truck Festival, Inlet Field Upgrade Project, Summer Sunday Concert Series, Block Parties for Babies, 55+ Games, Installation of Bike Station, Installation of Parent-Child Swing, Master Transportation Plan Consultations, Introduction of a Mental Health Officer at Port Moody Police, and the Opening of the Evergreen Line Extension.

Mayor Clay acknowledged Fire Chief Remo Faedo's 27 years of service at the City of Port Moody, and wished him well on his upcoming retirement.

Mayor Clay announced that Townline Homes donated $20,000 to the Arts Centre Society and dedicated the naming sponsorship of the 3D Art Gallery to Ann Kitching in recognition of her contributions to the arts in Port Moody.
Mayor Clay announced that earlier in the day, at around 6pm, Ann Kitching lost her battle with cancer.
Mayor Clay acknowledged Ms. Kitching's tremendous contributions to the community in Port Moody, and noted that she will be greatly missed.

2. Public Input
Alex Augustiniak, Port Moody, requested an update on the progress on narrow lot subdivisions, noting that he wishes to partake in the new subdivision process. Mr. Augustiniak also requested information on the potential for growing vegetables on the loco Lands.
Dan Eaton, Port Moody, expressed his appreciation for the Evergreen Line Public Art, requested an update on narrow lot subdivisions, and suggested a floor area ratio of 0.7 for narrow lots.

 
3.1 Presentation - Long Service Awards
Verbal Report: Mayor Clay

Mayor Clay presented certificates of recognition to employees who have worked for the City of Port Moody for more than 25 years.
The following staff were recognized for their long-time contributions to the City:
• Robbie Davino, Lead Carpenter, 30 years;
• Lome Slack, Operations Maintenance Worker, 25 years; and
• Lisa Culpo, Office Assistant, 25 years.
Mayor Clay congratulated the staff and their families on their employment anniversaries, noting that the City's employees are its greatest asset and vital to the City's successes and accomplishments.
