The first piece of the tunnel boring machine to build the $1.4-billion Evergreen Line arrived in Port Moody today (Tuesday).
The massive section of equipment — called the cutter head, weighing 130 tonnes — came by rail and truck to PoMo from the Ontario manufacturer to help drill the 2 km tunnel under the Seaview neighbourhood, west of Barnet Highway.
Tunnel construction expected to start in February.
