Evergreen Line update Saturday

TransLink will host an open house to update residents on the status of the Evergreen Line.

The information session, which will include presentations from international experts on "best practices" for light rail transit in North America and Europe, is scheduled to take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Coquitlam City Hall, located at 3000 Guildford Way.

The line, which is scheduled for completion in 2011, is facing a $400-million funding shortfall.

TransLink chair Malcolm Brodie said in a news conference last October that the line will not go ahead unless the federal and provincial governments plug the funding gap by April.
